Rekey after a move or a lost key
When you move into a house, you don't know how many keys are out there. The last owner has one, maybe a cousin who watered the plants, a neighbor with a spare, a contractor from a few summers back. Some locks don't need replacing, they need a look. A deadbolt that sticks halfway, a knob that spins loose, a cylinder worn so smooth the key barely catches: these are the everyday repairs at the counter and in the van. Sometimes it's a cleaning and an adjustment. Sometimes the cylinder has simply given out and a new one goes in.
And sometimes a lock has to come out the hard way.
